About Inconel 625 Bar and Rod

Inconel 625 bar and rod is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that carries very high strength in seawater, hot acids, and high-temperature gas paths. Strengthened by molybdenum and niobium rather than heat treatment, UNS N06625 resists pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress-corrosion cracking while retaining useful mechanical properties up to about 980 °C. Supplied as round, bright, cold-drawn, square, hex, and forged bar, Inconel 625 bar serves marine, aerospace, chemical processing, oil and gas, and power-generation components. Mechanical Properties

ASTM B446 furnishes UNS N06625 rod and bar in two heat-treated grades. Grade 1 (annealed) is normally employed in service up to about 593 °C and carries higher minimum room-temperature strength; Grade 2 (solution annealed) is normally employed above about 593 °C where resistance to creep and rupture is required. Minimum room-temperature properties are listed below — Grade 1 requirements vary with product size.

  • Grade 1 is annealed at 871 °C (1600 °F) minimum. Grade 2 is solution annealed at 1093 °C (2000 °F) minimum, with or without a subsequent stabilization anneal at 982 °C (1800 °F) minimum to increase resistance to sensitization. The applicable ASTM B446 grade, size and condition govern final acceptance.
