Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 are commercially pure wrought nickel grades supplied as bars and rods. Nickel 200 is the standard commercially pure nickel grade, while Nickel 201 is its low-carbon version, typically selected for applications where carbon control is important at elevated temperatures.
Both grades offer good corrosion resistance, ductility, and electrical and thermal conductivity. Nickel 200 / 201 bar and rod are commonly supplied to ASTM B160, with material condition, dimensions, surface finish, and inspection documentation confirmed according to the project requirements.
Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 are commercially pure wrought nickel grades with high electrical and thermal conductivity, useful ductility, and strong resistance to caustic and reducing media. Southerly Alloy supplies both grades as bar and rod to ASTM B160 in hot-worked, cold-worked, and annealed conditions, with custom sizes and mill test documentation.
Resists sodium hydroxide and other alkaline media across a wide range of concentrations.
Roughly 70 W/m·K at 20 °C, with low electrical resistivity.
Suits deep drawing, spinning and severe cold forming without intermediate annealing.
Magnetic below a Curie temperature of about 358 °C for electromagnetic components.
Nickel 201 caps carbon at 0.02% to avoid precipitation above 315 °C
UNS N02200 and UNS N02201 bar and rod both supplied to ASTM B160
Round, square, hex, flat, and forged bar in hot-worked, cold-worked, or annealed condition.
Bright drawn, peeled, ground, or pickled bar matched to your machining setup.
Your Nickel 200 or Nickel 201 order is handled by the mill team that melts and finishes the bar. Specifications are checked against real production capability before anything is cut. One contact carries the order from drawing review to export loading.
Grade, condition, and tolerance are matched to your drawing before the bar is processed.
EN 10204 3.1 certificates, heat numbers, and PMI records follow each delivery.
One bar or one bundle, standard or custom dimensions, quoted from the same qualified route.
Technical questions answered by the mill team, with shipping documents prepared in advance.
Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 bar and rod are produced from selected nickel cathode and controlled additions. Each heat is worked and heat-treated to the ordered ASTM B160 condition, with every stage recorded against the heat number.
Nickel cathode and controlled additions are weighed to the UNS N02200 or N02201 chemistry, with carbon held within the ordered limit.
The charge is melted and cast into ingots under a controlled atmosphere to limit gas pickup and segregation.
Ingots are forged or rolled to the required bar section, refining the cast structure as the section is reduced.
Drawing, peeling or grinding brings cold-worked bar to its final diameter, tolerance and surface.
Annealing is applied to the ordered condition, restoring ductility and setting the specified strength level.
Straightening, cutting, and surface preparation deliver the bright, peeled, or ground finish your drawing calls for.
Chemistry, tensile properties, dimensions, and surface are verified against the purchase specification before the heat is released.
Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 bar and rod are produced in standard and custom diameters. Cut length, straightness, delivery condition, and surface finish are agreed before production. Both grades run on the same qualified line, so a mixed order ships as one campaign.
nickel alloy production halls, finishing and inspection areas
melting, forging, drawing and finishing equipment on site
nickel alloy bar and rod output, including Nickel 200 / 201

Nickel 200 / 201 bar is released only after the ordered ASTM B160 requirements are demonstrated on the heat. Composition, mechanical properties, and dimensions are checked against those requirements. Records travel with the material, so your incoming inspection checks the same heat numbers.

Limits below follow ASTM B160 for UNS N02200 and low-carbon UNS N02201 bar and rod; nickel is determined arithmetically by difference. The governing purchase specification and the mill test certificate decide final acceptance.
| Element | Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) | Nickel 201 (UNS N02201) |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni), min. | 99.0% | 99.0% |
| Copper (Cu), max. | 0.25% | 0.25% |
| Iron (Fe), max. | 0.40% | 0.40% |
| Manganese (Mn), max. | 0.35% | 0.35% |
| Carbon (C), max. | 0.15% | 0.02% |
| Silicon (Si), max. | 0.35% | 0.35% |
| Sulfur (S), max. | 0.01% | 0.01% |
Values are ASTM B160 minimums for hot-worked, cold-worked, and annealed rod and bar, in both inch-pound and metric units. Requirements change with condition and section size: annealed bar is the most ductile; cold-worked bar the strongest.

Elongation requirements do not apply to diameters or cross sections under 2.4 mm (3/32 in.). Hot-worked bar is supplied to the ASTM B160 condition applicable to the ordered section.
Typical room-temperature values for annealed material, given for design calculations rather than acceptance testing. The two grades behave almost identically as bulk material; the measurable differences appear in electrical resistivity and elastic modulus.
