Hastelloy C-22 bar and rod is supplied in UNS N06022 / W.Nr. 2.4602, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy containing approximately 20.0–22.5% chromium. Its balanced chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten content provides broad resistance to oxidizing acids, wet chlorine, and mixed oxidizing-chloride environments.
For oxidizing or variable process streams, we supply C-22 bar and rod in the solution-annealed condition to ASTM B574, available in round, hex, square, and forged forms and cut to your required lengths. EN 10204 3.1 certification can be supplied with heat number identification, with PMI verification available when required by your specification.
For strongly reducing acid service, Hastelloy C-276 Bar and Rod may be a more suitable alternative due to its lower chromium and higher molybdenum content.
Southerly Alloy supplies Hastelloy C-22 (UNS N06022) bar and rod to ASTM B574 in solution-annealed, hot-finished, and cold-drawn conditions, with custom sizes, surface finishes, and EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates. Its 20–22.5% chromium resists oxidizing acids, wet chlorine, and mixed oxidant-chloride media that defeat lower-chromium grades. Most of this bar serves FGD, chemical, pharmaceutical, and waste-treatment equipment facing variable or aggressive process streams.
Higher chromium lets C-22 resist nitric acid, ferric chloride, and cupric chloride where Hastelloy C-276 Bar and Rod shows weaker performance.
Wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide are handled by the chromium-rich passive film that resists localized attack.
Molybdenum and tungsten still cover hydrochloric, sulfuric, and phosphoric acid systems in the same bar.
Pitting and crevice attack in seawater and process chloride streams are resisted by the high pitting-resistance number.
Ultra-low carbon and silicon keep welded joints corrosion-resistant without post-weld heat treatment in the field.
Annealed C-22 meets a 310 MPa yield minimum, above the C-276 floor, with 45% elongation for fabrication tolerance.

Each C-22 bar starts as a vacuum-refined heat where chromium and tungsten are held high to build the oxidant resistance. We solution-anneal and water-quench every lot, then finish to the ordered condition and file the test data against the heat number.
Nickel, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, and iron are weighed into the UNS N06022 window before melting begins.
The charge is refined under vacuum to keep carbon, silicon, and gas within the tight limits.

The limits below follow ASTM B574 for UNS N06022 bar and rod, with nickel as the balance of the melt. Chromium sits at 20.0–22.5% — about six points above C-276 — to drive oxidizing-media resistance, while molybdenum and tungsten cover reducing acids and localized attack, and ultra-low carbon protects the weld zones. Therefore, the mill test certificate governs final acceptance.

C-22 is not age-hardenable, so any strength above the annealed minimum comes from cold work. Cold-drawn bar is quoted to its as-drawn condition when higher yield is needed.
Typical room-temperature values below support design work rather than acceptance testing. Because C-22 stays practically non-magnetic across its working range, it suits instrument and magnetically sensitive assemblies.
