About Hastelloy C-276 Bar and Rod

Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276, W.Nr. 2.4819) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with ultra-low carbon. Because its chemistry is balanced, it resists oxidizing and reducing acids, chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking.

C-276 bar and rod are solution-annealed and water-quenched to ASTM B574 and ASME SB574, then finished as hot-rolled, drawn, or ground stock. Next, round, hex, forged, and machined sections are cut to order, and each lot ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate. Where service needs higher strength at temperature than C-276 provides, our Inconel 625 bar and rod extends the nickel-alloy range.

Reliable Production For Critical Applications

We begin each C-276 bar as a vacuum-refined melt and hold carbon and silicon low to protect weld zones. Next, we solution-anneal and water-quench each heat, then finish to the ordered condition. Finally, we file chemistry and test data against the heat number through release.

Charge Compounding

We weigh nickel, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, and iron into the UNS N10276 window before melting.

VIM or VOD Melting

We refine the charge under vacuum or argon to keep carbon, silicon, and gas within limits.

Forging and Rolling

We forge and roll the ingots down to bar section, and this breaks the cast structure as the size reduces.

Solution Annealing

C-276 is not age-hardenable, so any strength above the annealed minimum comes from cold work. Cold-drawn bar is quoted to its as-drawn condition when higher yield is needed.
